Google finds its “voice”

Well, it didn’t lose its voice, but it was just called Grand Central before.  Those of us in the space have been playing with the Google’ acquisition Grand Central in closed beta for some time.  I love my New York number, and so do my friends in NY (yes it’s only a 917, not the coveted 212/646).  It’s cool, but will it go beyond novelty?

The idea is great: one number for life and it follows you around.  In fact, Telax clients have been using a “DID in the Cloud” for some time, with additional call control features.  The benefits for businesses are easy to understand their teams can roam, work from multiple offices and always be in touch, even when life gets in they way of getting to the office.  But will the consumer crowd feel the same?

So now that Google has relaunched and rebranded, what’s new?   Well,  not too much yet, but soon maybe the rest of the “Googleverse” will get to play.
