On our recent Mission to Washington D.C., Telax was invited to the Booz Allen Hamilton headquarters in McLean, Virginia to discuss our approach to call center in the cloud. With a modest population of 40,000, McLean is not exactly the place that you’d expect to find the headquarters of one of world’s leading consulting firms. That is, until you realize that it’s located 15 miles from downtown Washington.
Just in case you’re not familiar, Booz Allen pretty much pioneered the management consulting industry. Check out this neat timeline for some corporate history highlights or these press highlights for the firm’s latest and greatest. The company boasts a truly impressive reputation for innovation.
Aside from operating 80 offices across the United States and employing more than 20,000 bright minds, Booz Allen’s core business is U.S. federal government contracts. Imagine our delight! You may have noticed that Telax places major focus on government as an industry and that it’s an area of our business that we’re working hard to develop.
While onsite at the firm’s headquarters we had some great exchanges about cloud computing, an area in which Booz Allen is doing some serious thought leadership. We also got to check out the world famous technology “petting zoo” – a real treat. The zoo is the place to see the latest in cutting-edge technology, often before papers have even been published. Our gracious hosts provided a tour of this Shangri-La of demo facilities and let me tell you, it was mind-blowing. Among other sci-fi worthy gadgets, the lab was the first home of the Smart Plasma Antannae prototype.
As you’d expect from such an important leader, Booze Allen Hamilton differentiates itself by developing a deep understanding of technologies, ahead of the curve. We were honored to have the opportunity to engage in discussion about our applications, practices and cloud computing more broadly. Can’t wait to do it again!
Interesting what a big component the private sector plays in federal government projects, particularly in military/high tech.
Agreed, the private sector has always delivered tremendous value by strategically advising the government on available and viable solutions. When it works well, there’s nothing like it!!
