This Sunday to Tuesday, the Canadian Independent Telephone Association (CITA) will host their annual telecommunications conference and Telax will be in attendance! Check out the full program here.
The conference features seminars and exhibits presented by leading specialists from across Canada. Independent operators have maintained a big role in the history of telecomunications innovations in Canada, and CITA is a prominent alliance of these operators in the provinces of Ontario, Québec, and British Columbia. CITA represents its telephone companies before federal and provincial bodies, and the Association also actively promotes the increase and advancement of telephone services in the communities served by its members. The theme of this year’s conference is “Building For Success.”
Not only does Telax greatly support independent telecommunications, but many CITA operators are also Telax customers and provide the Hosted Call Center solution to businesses in their region. This year’s seminar lineup is looking particularly great. Whether you are interested in global or national telecommunications, this conference has something to offer. In addition to representing local Canadian industry, the event features sponsorship from such multi-national corporations as engineering giant 3M, and Network OS and Router manufacturer Juniper Networks.
Many Telax partners will be strutting their stuff this year in the seminars forum. Kicking off the technical discussions in the Violet-Orchid Room on Monday, will be Rob Figliuzzi, VP & CFO of newly announced Telax partner Wightman Telecom. The talk, entitled “The IPTV Challenge,” is set to detail the future of delivering television across Internet Protocol. Following the Wightman talk, Erik Zweers Operations Manager of Execulink Telecom another Telax partner, along with his IPv6 Team, will be giving a talk addressing the massive Internet global infrastructural switch from IPv4 to IPv6 technology.
Almost since the birth of the internet, IPv4 has been the publicly used Internet Protocol and is currently the foundation for most Internet communications. However, the Internet’s growth has created a need for more namespaces, IP blocks, and IP addresses than IPv4 has available. IPv6 technology allows for vastly more numerical addresses, but switching from IPv4 to IPv6 may be a difficult process. Major Internet service providers have been preparing for the IPv4-address exhaustion for years. Transition plans are already in place however it was suddenly announced last month that this changeover will be happening much sooner than expected.
According to eWeek.com, as of Feb. 1, it was calculated that only 1 percent of all possible IPv4 addresses are left unassigned. The entire address-space is expected to be more or less exhausted by August 3rd, 2011, explained an IPv4 Address Report issued by Geoff Huston of Potaroo.net accessed earlier this week. In the face of such a game changer for Internet Protocol packet switching, Zweer’s IPv6 talk will most certainly shed light on the future of how this changeover will impact Canada.
The conference will come to a close, on Tuesday, March 8, with a talk from another Telax partner, Bruce Telecom, who will present their cellular mobility marketing campaign. The talk, simply titled “Marketing Strategies,” will include a discussion of packaging (pricing and bundling), and ROI perspectives. Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Service, Ray Majury, will present the campaign alongside two other CITA members, BC representative CityWest, who will give an account of their video marketing structure, and Ontario’s Mornington Communications Co-Op Ltd., a company currently testing the Telax Hosted Call Center product. Mornington will present the marketing campaign for their CLEC program.
Hope to see you there! We’ll be in booth 205 if you want to stop by.
