It really is astounding how far we’ve advanced in communications. We’ve gone from smoke signals and carrier pigeons to telephones, email, and video chat. Perhaps in the future we’ll be using holograms to communicate, I can’t wait for that! In the meantime, leaders in communications spend their time improving our existing technologies both behind the scenes and in front.
One of the more recent advancements in communications is the amalgamation of various mediums into one program. For example, Microsoft Lync provides voice communication; instant messaging; audio, video, and web conferencing, and it even allows for IP PBX features such as call queuing and routing, as well as tradition calling features.
We were quick to integrate with Lync here at Telax, and we’re always ready to learn about new technologies, which is one of the reasons we’re so excited about the Metaswitch Forum 2011. Are new breakthroughs, as influential as the telephone and email, waiting for us? Is the hologram just around the corner or something equally impressive?
If human history as taught us anything, it’s taught us that there is always something to look forward to, and that there is no end to invention and discovery.
