Happy Holidays!

We can assume Santa knows all about cloud computing. How else can he keep track of who’s naughty and nice while flying at 5,000 feet in an open sleigh? The long parchment concept doesn’t fly anymore. Surely he’s using an iPhone or a BlackBerry to access a data center somewhere, while a contact center full of elves record last minute gift requests and keep Santa’s naughty and nice list up to date. So if old St. Nick is hip to the cloud, what might we expect him to get us for Christmas? (more…)

Email is so 2006

The world just gets faster and faster. Email, once considered the most efficient and speediest method of communication, is now cumbersome and slow, so we’re moving on. Well, we’re moving away from it anyway. There are solutions out there that eliminate the need to use internal email. Even Intel has something called “no-email Fridays”. (more…)

Cloudforce 2011

Salesforce hosted a convention in New York today called Cloudforce 2011. I wasn’t able to get to New York for it, but thanks to a streaming video feed on Facebook, I was still able to attend. The world is getting smaller everyday thanks to cloud computing, social media, and the ingenuity of companies like Salesforce.

Cisco says cloud to expand 12-fold by 2015

I knew the cloud was growing, but according to research done by Cisco, it’s growing much faster than I thought. Of course I’m not really that surprised that so many companies are opting to use cloud computing services like our Hosted Call Center solution, but Cisco is estimating that cloud traffic will increase 12-fold by 2015. Black Friday

Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. Companies across the continent start the Christmas rush by promoting discounts and sales galore. The deals certainly are great, if you can fight through armed gunmen, shopping crazed people wielding mace, and of course giant crowds and lines. You know what would make Black Friday better, and probably much safer? Putting the sales online.

Depending on where you work, reporting can range from daunting stacks of paper or huge .pdf files to skimpy one-liners. In one extreme, there is simply too much data to wade through to be useful and in the other, there isn’t enough data to know anything.
