RSS FeedFeature Friday: Custom reporting
Depending on where you work, reporting can range from daunting stacks of paper or huge .pdf files to skimpy one-liners. In one extreme, there is simply too much data to wade through to be useful and in the other, there isn’t enough data to know anything. Templated reports might try to cover the basics, but in this fast-paced world, it’s important that everyone’s time be used as efficiently as possible. That’s why our hosted contact center solution provides custom reporting, today’s Feature Friday focus. (more…)

Last month, we celebrated Thanksgiving north of the border with a list of things companies taking advantage of cloud computing can be thankful for. This week, Thanksgiving comes to the United States so it’s only fair to take another look at the things we’re thankful for, but this time we’ll put a little spin on it. Here is a list of things cloud computing will make us thankful for at some point in the future. (more…)

It’s easy to make a mistake when you’re working with computers. You can delete files that haven’t been backed up yet, close documents without saving first, click on a malicious email by accident, or even spill your coffee on a keyboard. Many of these problems are easily prevented while some can happen to even the best of us, but there is one problem that simply should not exist, and that’s the problem of a weak password. (more…)

It seems tablet computers are getting cheaper all the time. A company called Datawind is set to release an Android-based tablet called Ubislate. The features on it are remarkable. For one it retails for $60 in India and for another two dollars a month it can have unlimited Internet access. Datawind’s goal is to see everyone on the planet have access to the Internet, should they want it, starting in India, but while I am impressed with their vision, it’s the device itself that interest me the most.

Feature Friday: Warm transfers
It might not be the most glamorous feature or even cutting edge, but it could very well be one of your customer’s favourite contact center features, and those are the ones that count for the most. I’m talking about the warm transfer, which is the focus of this week’s Feature Friday. (more…)

If you live in Canada and you subscribe to Netflix, or you just like downloading large amounts of data, you might see your Internet bill climb over the next few months. Large ISPs like Bell and Rogers have been arguing in favour for usage-based-billing, which means residential Internet subscribers would pay for the data they transfer rather than just a monthly subscription fee. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) decided against usage-based-billing, but they did leave the door open for higher Internet costs. (more…)

One of the early benefits realized during the Industrial Revolution was job creation, but many new employees had no experience in their newly acquired positions. Laborers needed to learn new jobs, and managers also needed to discover and use new techniques and tools to keep their employees, and customers, happy and productive. Today, we’re in the midst of what I like to think of as the ‘technical revolution’. As our technology gets more sophisticated, contact center employees need to learn new skills, but those higher up the workplace ladder also have the opportunity to learn new skills by taking advantage of the very same software that contact center employees are using.

Skeptics of cloud computing point to security as one of its faults, but we here at Telax, as well as many others, believe that the security of any infrastructure is sound as long as enough time and effort is put into it. Whether you’re using a hosted solution or not, if you invest properly in security, you will be secure. McAfee, an established computer security company, today announced the latest improvements made to their Cloud Security Platform. (more…)
